OCTOFONE GUITAR HISTORY
THE ORIGINAL COMPANY The Regal Musical Instrument Company of Chicago Illinois, first introduced the musical 8-stringed instrument, now known as the Octofone Guitar, at the 1928 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
Frank Cordick, President of the Regal Musical Instrument Company and inventor called the 8-string Octofone Guitar a "Plucked Stringed Instrument". Trade magazines promoted it as an instrument which could be tuned like 8 other different stringed instruments. The company closed in 1955 however American collectors realized and honored the guitar for its place in American history.
